Sarah Roberts is a diverse artist with over 30 years’ experience in various creative roles. Painting is where Sarah’s heart is. Colour and expressive mark making are signature to Sarah’s style. Now based in her garden studio at her Worcester home, it is a wonderful creative environment which provides space and light for Sarah’s painting to develop.
Sarah’s painting techniques are underpinned with a long-standing knowledge of screen printing; both paint and print are a strong influence in the current approach to her work. Sarah uses a calm but immediate approach; there is a strong emphasis on combining balanced abstract shapes, energetic brush marks and layered textures to create a piece of work that can be placed in any environment. With a limited, sophisticated colour palette and a combination of marks, Sarah aims to create balance, good composition, contrast and texture in her work. The work celebrates simplicity and communicates a satisfaction when a composition is just right.
